đź’— How am I really doing?

Yesterday, I introduced Week One of Fauxvember  — Physical Wellness  — and asked "What's happening to my body?"
Today, I'm introducing Week Two: Emotional Wellness, and a question that can sometimes be even harder to answer.
"How am I really doing?"
Today, I had a doctor's appointment and it reminded me of something I think women need to hear.
We spend so much of our lives caring for others. Our families, our friends, our colleagues, our communities. We show up, we carry responsibilities, and we keep going.
I've come to appreciate that looking after my own mental and emotional health isn't selfish — it's necessary. Not just because I want to be there for the people I love, but because I know that I deserve the same care and compassion too. And yet, I still feel the sting of asking for help.
There's no shame in needing help or asking for help and certainly by doing so doesn't mean we are weak — it makes us stronger. Because taking care of ourselves matters just as much as caring for others.
That said, I invite you to do something 'faux' yourself because we're here for each other, but we need to show up for ourselves too.

No perfection. No judgement. Just paying attention.
